Who We Are
GMCT is a community-based gay men’s chorus founded in 2026 in Tokyo.
We welcome singers of all levels — whether you have years of choral experience or have never sung in a choir before.
We sing a wide range of music, including classical, musical theatre, gospel, and pop.
At GMCT, we believe in creating a safe and joyful space where gay men can sing freely and proudly. Through music, we aim to build lasting friendships and contribute to a more open and connected Tokyo.

Visitor & Trial Info
We warmly invite you to start by joining us for a visit or a trial rehearsal. No previous experience is required — just a love of singing.
Visits are free of charge.
By taking part in an actual rehearsal, you’ll be able to experience the atmosphere of the group and how we approach music.
Think of it as a chance to see if GMCT feels right for you — with no pressure or obligation to join.

Is it okay if I have never sung in a choir before?
Yes, absolutely. You are welcome to join regardless of your previous experience.During rehearsals, we gradually learn basic vocal techniques and how to read sheet music together.
Do I have to attend every single practice?
We encourage you to maintain a healthy balance between choir, work, and personal life. However, as we create music together as a group, regular attendance is important. If you are unable to attend a rehearsal, please let us know in advance.
Is there an audition?
When you join, we will conduct a simple voice check to understand your vocal range and tone. This is only to help us assign you to the appropriate voice part — it is not an audition or selection process.
Do you ever perform under a different group name?
No. We conduct all our activities under the name “Gay Men’s Chorus of Tokyo.” This is not intended as a political statement, but rather a reflection of our belief in singing and creating music openly and authentically. We will never require you to come out to your workplace or family. Your privacy is fully respected.
